When Opportunity Finds You in the Mess
Most people think opportunity knocks when you’re ready.
The truth I've come to realize is that it shows up when you’re exhausted, burned out, and barely holding it together.
That’s exactly where my friend Terri Dien found her self a few years ago.
Running a cooking school.
Teaching nine classes a week.
Working 12–14 hour days.
No time left for herself.
Burnout was real.
But instead of collapsing under it, she stayed open.
And one random message on LinkedIn changed everything.
A publisher reached out about a cookbook collaboration.
She did her homework, vetted the company, and discovered a new path: the commission cookbook model.
Suddenly, her decade of teaching experience wasn’t just trapped in a kitchen schedule it was fuel for a new professional chapter.
This is what I love about her story.
She didn’t wait until life was perfect.
She answered the opportunity while life was messy.
And that’s often when the best doors open.
Use LinkedIn as a platform to see what is possible, what connections you can make by being open to the opportunities!
