The Smart Author’s Pre-Launch Strategy
The number one thing you must have as an author preparing to market your book is not what most people think.
Most authors obsess over the wrong things before launch.
They spend weeks creating social posts, graphics, and promotional materials.
Some will even scramble to put a website together at the last minute, hoping everything works when people finally visit.
A few might reach out to people for early reviews.
But none of that comes close to the power of one simple asset.
An email list.
Actually, three lists.
First is your friends and family list. These are the people who already care about you and want to see you win.
Second is your colleagues and professional network. These are people who know your work, respect your expertise, and can help amplify your credibility.
Third is your street team. This group can include friends, family, and colleagues, but the key difference is influence.
These are people who have audiences that overlap with yours. Think of this as your Dream 50, Dream 100, or even thousands of aligned voices you can reach out to.
Some you may simply ask to share. Others you may collaborate with or compensate. The critical thing here is alignment with the audience you are trying to reach.
Each of these groups should have its own email sequence, written in advance, automated, and sent at the right time.
The real advantage comes from building all of this months before your launch.
That way you are not begging for attention at the last minute.
You are warming up your audience, building anticipation, and creating genuine interest over time.
Done right, this removes stress and turns your launch into momentum instead of chaos.
This is a game-changer for authors whom I've worked with over the past few years.
