Why I Built Rising Authors (and What It’s Become)

In June of 2023, I didn’t have a master plan.

I just knew one thing after being laid off.

Most authors were struggling with what came after publishing their book.

Starting Rising Authors was a response.

Authors poured their hearts into writing, only to realize that getting people to see their work was an entirely different mountain to climb.

So I started with what I knew could help: coaching, brand refinement, LinkedIn help, YouTube channel building, and growing a stronger online presence.

From there, one author at a time, things began to grow.

Since then, I grew a little team and we’ve supported dozens of authors through both the messy and meaningful parts of publishing and promoting their work before, during, and after their launch.

And after building three other businesses, this one has been the most rewarding and the most purpose-aligned work I've ever done.

Because I get to work with people who care deeply about something real.

Every author I meet has a message worth sharing. A truth they’ve lived. A story that can move others.

Writing the book isn’t the finish line, it’s the beginning of becoming the messenger.

That means showing up again.

Sharing. Reaching out. Updating.

Facing rejection.

Learning, adapting, and trying again.

The authors I work with do that every day.

They show up with courage, trust the process, and let me walk alongside them as they bring their voice to life.

And today, I just feel gratitude for being a part of so many projects. From websites, to YouTube channels, and podcast development to overcoming fears of launching a newsletter or a Substack.

Self-promotion isn't actually about you. It's about the expertise you carry that deserves to be shared with the right people.

Onward and upward.
