What It Really Takes to Build Something That Matters

I get to hear so many author stories, and grit is truly profound.

The deep passion for seeking to make a change.

To help others feel seen, heard, and cared for.

I’m lucky I get to do this work, it’s become more and more meaningful.

Shoutout to the freelancers.

The authors.

The editors.

The designers.

The entrepreneurs.

The dreamers who do so much of the work.

Two years ago, when I started Rising Authors, I had a damn good gut feeling I could help a lot of authors with their marketing.

But truthfully?

I didn’t know if I could even pay my mortgage a few months in.

That’s the gamble.

That’s the grit.

That’s what it means to bet on yourself before the world claps for you.

No one sees the anxiety.

The late nights.

The ghosted proposals.

The early mornings and four coffees deep before 9am.

No one sees the days you doubt everything,
and still show up.

But I see you.

I respect you.

To those who believed in me, who trusted me with your stories, your dollars, your dreams.

Thank you.

You help me build mine, too.

Thanks for letting me be a part of your daily LinkedIn feed, engaging with my work, cheering your boy on.

That’s love.

Here’s to all of us building in the dark until the light finds us.

Shine on.
