Why Your Book Isn’t the Golden Ticket (And What Is)
I sold less than 300 books my first week in 2021. Ouch.
I thought I had a big enough audience. Boy did I have a lot to learn.
Since then, I've sold around 3,000 and given well over 2,000 away. Not from marketing the book, from using the book to market me. Speaking, workshops, online presence.
Working at a publishing company that supported hundreds of authors, I saw the missing element: nobody was marketing the author. When I got laid off in 2023,
I launched Rising Authors because I knew the problem firsthand.
Almost all authors want the podcast features, the speaking gigs, the media, all at once. Rightfully so. But it doesn't work like that.
When I ask authors "can I see your website?" they cringe. Literally cringe.
I get it. I've changed my website five times and my offer six times. Figured it out the hard way.
But nobody is booking you for $10,000 speaking and landing on a website built in 2012. Most authors can't even articulate in one sentence who they help and how.
Your book isn't the golden ticket. Your next interview isn't either.
It's your focused offer. Your clean website. Your online presence that builds trust.
Those three working together is what brings opportunities to you.
I broke this down in a video. If your foundation needs work, watch it. Then DM me.
